The Men of Valor Academy (MOVA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2001. The founder, Bishop Bob Jackson of Acts Full Gospel Church created the academy to address the growing concerns in the community regarding rising crime and high recidivism rates.

Bishop Jackson also realized that housing, or the lack thereof, was paramount to the success of the formerly incarcerated and contributed greatly to recidivism. When released from prison a person is given $200 to find shelter, food, clothing and employment. If released from a county facility they aren't given anything. The immediate need is for housing, secondarily is job training, and finally employment and sustainable income. Housing is the cornerstone that supports these components and provides an individual the stability to acclimate back into society and become a productive, law abiding citizen. The average cost to house an inmate is upwards of $40,000. We can drastically reduce taxpayer costs through our program.

The Men of Valor Academy was created to help reduce crime and provide services to people otherwise shunned by society. We believe that the formerly incarcerated, high school drop-outs, homeless men and those getting over other challenges in their lives deserve a chance. We believe that this approach best serves our community as a whole.
